A life-long resident of Oklahoma, Sonny was born in Oklahoma City. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in Political Science and Nonprofit Management in 2008. He currently works in the nonprofit sector raising funds for medical research in Oklahoma.
In May 2015, Sonny joined The Village City Council as the representative for Ward 5. He has since worked hard to make improvements to existing code, strengthening our city’s appearance and safety. Working as co-chair of the Village Vision Committee with fellow Council Member Bubba Symes, Sonny worked to draft a long-range development plan for The City of The Village. He was named to serve as Mayor in 2018 by his fellow council members.
Sonny campaigned with council members in 2018 to encourage residents to vote yes for a sales tax increase and the city’s first ever bond packages. The propositions passed by margins of about 80%, showing the desire of many in The Village to make infrastructure improvements and other necessary repairs to their city, most notably Britton Road. Sonny has tirelessly worked with the council, residents and business leaders to improve the quality of life in The Village.
Sonny and is wife Susan love living in The Village with their two rescue dogs Lincoln and Luna. He is a charter member of the OKC Exchange Rotary Club, serving as its President Elect. Sonny is a current member of Leadership Oklahoma City’s Signature Class 38 and an alumnus of LOYAL Class IX.
